People Change Toolkits  (United Kingdom)
I run a Business Change Support team for our company, and key for us was to develop a toolkit which our change managers would find helpful, ensuring that people change along with the process, system or organisation changes that are seen as the core of change projects.  Equally, line managers should easily use this toolkit to help their people impacted cope with change.  I searched the internet and other companies known to do effective change, but found very little in the form of toolkits - other than this change management toolbook. Does anyone out there use a Toolkit focused purely on people change?  If so what tools are included, what education or training structure is in place in support, what format is it in - intranet or hard copy? We are now rolling out a toolkit we have developed on our intranet hyperlinked to tools based on communicating change, dealing with reactions and barriers to change and leading people through the change. We are surely not the only ones doing this?

Re: People Change Toolkits  (South Africa)
Modified By ivanoverton on 2008/02/10 02:25:28 )

We run a change management consulting business and a change managment training business in South Africa (ChangeWright and ChangeAbility), and we have helped several clients (locally as well as internationally) to develop in-house and customised change management toolkits and associated training courses for organisational change management.

Our proprietary model - see the entry in the open knowledge base - is fully enabled with tools that we have developed over the past 10 years working on large-scale change initiatives. The categories of tools pretty much follow the same structure as the model, but I have found that it is easy to map the tools to other methodologies too (the basics always seem to boil down to very much the same thing, regardless of the wrappings and labels we choose - maybe one day something TRULY new and even more fascinating will appear - hope springs eternal).

Of course, then there are our competitors (or collaborators for a better world, depending on your viewpoint!) - Prosci. Often when our clients in South Africa ask us for a toolkit, they also consider or have considered the Prosci tools. Prosci has been around for a while, and their approach is based on sound theory and experience. Their toolset is comprehensive and fairly simple (largely a good thing, I think), and they offer supporting training courses, including train-the-trainer. We prefer automation and integration of what we do as far as possible, and often find simpler template-driven tools to be too limited in this regard. But then again our toolset might be overkill for line managers to apply in day-to-day change management. Check Prosci out on http://www.change-management.com/.
