Who are the People Who Might Change the World?  (N/A)

In my blog posting of August 23, I wrote about a Forbes attempt to identify people who have the potential to change the world. I would like to have your opinion: Who are the people that most likely will be the catalysts of the future? Where are emerging leaders and innovators in politics, culture, science etc. who will have an impact on the way we live, work and think.

Please name your favourite contemporary world shaker. If you can, please leave a few lines to describe why your choose this particular person, and if you have a link to an article on that person - this would be just great.

Re: Who are the People Who Might Change the World?  (Ireland)

Here are a few suggestions, as they are people who have enough influence to make major changes.

Al Gore for an inconvenient truth.
Jeff Immelt for committing GE to a sustainable future.
Peter Senge for making change ok.
Mark Shuttleworth for launching Ubuntu http://www.markshuttleworth.com/biography
Edward de Bono as he understands the customer and can sell  all of the above's ideas.

What about the smaller scale? Which role can social entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurs play in this? How much can each individual do to change the world for the better? Here is some of the folks and initiatives I like:
