Measuring Change/Predicting Change saturation  (United States)

Greetings! I am a change analyst for my organization and I am attempting to find out if anyone has been exposed or has come across a way to predict change saturation within an organization with some certainty.

I have attempted to do this by assigning a value to 15 questions regarding a given change impact. The sum of those questions will help me determine, at least in theory, if the impact of that change is small, medium, or large. I will then structure my change management approach around that rating. Secondly, the impact of that change should diminish over a period of time until the change is fully adopted. For example, if change A is to be implemented on 11/1 and it has a rating impact of 45 (out of a 75), then, based on how long it should be before adoption takes place, the impact rating should diminish week by week, eventually ending at zero when adoption takes place.

During the time between implementation and adoption, you should be able to understand, generally speaking, where your stakeholders should be within the change continuum if your values are accurate.

Of course, this idea is in its beginning stages and I have used it with some success so help my managers understand when change saturation might occur. Naturally, when dealing with human behavior, you can't really predict what will happen at any given time, but there are patterns to behavior and understanding the likelihood that these patterns will re-occur should give you some insight into future behavior.
